TRACEABLE LEATHER FROM EUROPE
We have begun a journey to integrate SPOOR's traceable leather into our value chain, starting by converting our most popular leather types into traceable variants. In the coming years we will work to expand this transformation to the rest of our leather range.
SPOOR hides are purchased directly from Nordic slaughterhouses, and there are no intermediaries between the parties. The leather is pre-tanned at the Danish tannery Scan-Hide and fully tanned at our local tannery in Portugal.
Through a unique, laser-printed reference, SPOOR leather is fully traceable from the shoe all the way back to the cattle. This enables full transparency in the value chain through data and documentation from farmers, slaughterhouses and tanneries.
In addition, SPOOR provides data on the actual CO2 emissions associated with leather production across the entire value chain. In 2024 the emission factor for SPOOR leather was 17.5 kg CO2 per m² of leather – approximately 7 times lower than the standard emission factor for comparable leather.
