QUALITY, DESIGN AND CRAFTSMANSHIP SINCE 1904

DISCOVER OUR STORY

A CONSCIOUS FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESS

HOW IT ALL STARTED

ANGULUS was founded in 1904 by Johannes Madsen, who owned a cobbler’s shop on Nørrebrogade in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Eventually, in 1949, Willy employed a leather buyer by the name of Roland Dawe. In the years that followed, he travelled all over Europe in search of quality leather. Roland had a keen eye for quality and also for the handsome foreign shoes he saw. In particular the
Italian franchises were an inspiration in the development of the ANGULUS collections.

In the early 1990’s, Christian Dawe took over the leadership of ANGULUS, continuing the legacy established by his father. Embracing the brand’s rich heritage, Christian skillfully merged traditional craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities. His leadership was characterized by a deep respect for the company’s history, while also guiding it towards contemporary relevance and appeal.

THE NEW GENERATION

After a successful generational change in the leadership, ANGULUS is currently managed by Clara Dawe (Chairwoman) and Sebastian Dawe (CEO). Together, they represent the third generation of the Dawe family entrusted with the responsibility of leading the brand, and the dedicated people behind it, into the future.

The new leadership is committed to fostering a culture of responsibility and ethical practices throughout the organization. This strategic direction not only aligns with contemporary consumer values but also stems from a steadfast belief that taking care of people and planet is a moral obligation and fundamental for the business’ license to operate. Clara and Sebastian Dawe understand the significance of adapting to the evolving landscape of consumer expectations and raised standards for responsible business conduct and they are dedicated to ensuring that ANGULUS not only meets but exceeds these
expectations.
